Egypt's Min of Tourism and Antiquities supports an initiative to integrate people of determination into society through art

Within the framework of implementing the objectives of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ strategy for sustainable development 2030 to enhance community participation, prepare and organize programs to raise tourism and archaeological awareness for all segments of society, and integrate and involve local communities surrounding archaeological and tourist areas in the sustainable development process, Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs, received a group of young people People of Determination to review the axes and objectives of the “Parallel World for Contemporary Art to Integrate People with Special Skills in Art” initiative, to discuss how the Ministry will support this initiative.



The meeting was attended by Maged Abu Sedira, Head of the Central Administration of Tourist Offices at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation, and Iman Abdel Rahman, Director General of the Authority's Internal Offices.



At the beginning of the meeting, the Deputy Minister welcomed these young people and praised their determination and efforts to achieve themselves and serve their community through innovative and influential ideas and proposals. She also praised their unique abilities and outstanding talents in various technical fields.



For their part, the youth reviewed examples of their successful artistic experiences, and explained that this initiative aims mainly to integrate people of determination into society more by raising societal awareness in this regard, in addition to working to attract more tourism movement of this category at the international level or The local government by launching advertising advertisements in sign language, implementing the first map in Braille for the "blind", inclusive diving and swimming competitions, in addition to designing the first hotel guide for hotels suitable for people of determination and available to them, in addition to artistic performances highlighting Egyptian culture and civilization.



The Deputy Minister affirmed that the ministry is fully prepared to support the initiative, especially as it achieves many goals, whether at the societal level in general or at the tourism level in particular, as it will highlight the ministry's efforts to promote the rights of people of determination, improve the level of services provided to them, and facilitate their visit, especially within the various Museums and archaeological sites throughout the Republic, which of course will have a significant impact on attracting tourists from this important segment to visit the Egyptian tourist destination.



She explained that the ministry is working to encourage affordable tourism, noting the ministry's efforts to make museums and archaeological sites available for this type of tourism, as a number of archaeological sites were prepared to make them available to people of determination, as part of the ministry's keenness to raise the efficiency of services provided at these sites to improve the visitor experience during their visit. Also, work is underway to print a number of tourist flyers and promotional materials in Braille.



In addition, the ministry is working to encourage hotel and tourist establishments to work on making them available for easy tourism. It will also work to invite a group of people of determination from different countries to visit Egypt and meet with their counterparts in Egypt in order to achieve the required integration and highlight the special abilities and distinguished talents of Egyptian youth like them from People of determination.
