CAIRO – 2 July 2025: Egypt and Oman have advanced their bilateral cooperation with the signing of seven memoranda of understanding (MOU) and executive programs during a high-level meeting in Cairo between Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, and his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
These agreements span key sectors including labor, mineral resources, investment promotion, media cooperation, food safety, and religious affairs and endowments.
During the discussions, Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of elevating trade volumes, expanding mutual investments, and exploring new economic opportunities in both countries.
He also expressed Egypt’s strong interest in activating the Egypt-Oman Joint Business Council as a platform for enhanced collaboration.
Abdelatty affirmed the readiness of Egyptian companies to participate in Oman’s development projects, especially within the framework of Oman Vision 2040 and its foreign investment roadmap.
He highlighted Egypt’s aspiration to achieve a new level of economic integration with Oman, focusing on strategic areas such as trade, manufacturing, renewable energy—particularly green hydrogen and green ammonia—logistics, digital transformation, healthcare, agriculture, and education.
Furthermore, he underscored the need to strengthen collaboration between Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone and Oman’s Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
Areas of focus include maritime transport, storage and logistics services, and establishing direct sea links between Duqm Port and Egyptian ports.
These efforts aim to facilitate trade flows and build a stronger foundation for long-term economic cooperation.
