CAIRO – 3 July 2019: Egyptian exports to international groups in which Egypt is a member hit $28.7 billion in 2018 in compared to $26.9 billion in 2017, marking a 6.6 percent rise, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) stated on Tuesday
In a bulletin, CAPMAS said the international groups are the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Sahel and Sahara Group, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Group of 15 and the Arab free trade zone.
Egypt exports to the Arab free trade zone occupied the first position standing at $9.4 billion in 2018.
Exports to ESCWA came in the second position recording $7.9 billion in 2018, while COMESA came in the tail of the list with exports registering $1.9 billion.
Exports to groups which do not comprise Egypt stood at $12 billion in 2018 at an 18.6 percent rise.
These groups are the European Union, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and MERCOSUR.
Egypt's exports to the EU ranked no 1 standing at $9 billion in 2018 at a 17.8 percent uptick.
Exports to NAFTA came in the second position at $1.8 billion, while EFTA came at the end of the list at $0.2 billion
