CAIRO – 4 October 2025: Egypt welcomed on Friday Hamas' response to US President Trump's plan to end hostilities in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Egypt highlighted that Hamas' statement reflects the movement's and all Palestinian factions' commitment to sparing the lives of the Palestinian people and preserving the lives of innocent civilians.
Egypt also indicated that the statement expresses a deep-rooted desire to end a dark period in the region's history, and an awareness of the necessity of ending this war, which will pave the way for progress toward achieving its aspirations for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Egypt reiterated its appreciation for US President Trump's efforts and his vision for achieving peace and stability in the region, and particularly his full commitment to ending the war in the Gaza Strip.
The statement noted that Trump’s rejection to the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land and his support for rebuilding Gaza, reflects his wise leadership and insightful vision for achieving peace and stability in the Middle East, along with his commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.
Egypt hoped that this ‘positive development’ would lead all parties to commit to implementing President Trump's plan, ending the war, allowing humanitarian aid to flow, and releasing hostages and detainees.
Egypt also expressed its intention to exert maximum efforts, in coordination with all Arab and Islamic countries, the US, the European Union, and the international community, to achieve a permanent ceasefire, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, and rebuild the Gaza Strip.
Hamas announced Friday that it would release all Israeli captives, both the living and the remains of the dead under the framework of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal.
In a Telegram post, Hamas also expressed its willingness to enter mediated talks without delay to work out the specifics.
Meanwhile, the movement reiterated their approval to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independent technocrats, based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.
Hamas affirmed their readiness to immediately enter, through mediators, into negotiations to discuss the details of the handover of captives.
