CAIRO - 30 July 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on the sidelines of the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s continued efforts to mediate a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, in light of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the strip.

He stressed Cairo’s firm rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause through forced displacement plans.

The two officials also discussed future steps to advance early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, following the anticipated ceasefire. This includes preparations for an international recovery and reconstruction conference Egypt plans to host.

The meeting addressed the worsening situation in the West Bank due to repeated Israeli military incursions and escalating settlement expansion, which Minister Abdelatty strongly condemned.

They also reviewed the implications of Israel’s ongoing measures to shut down UNRWA-run schools and hospitals in East Jerusalem. Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s full support for UNRWA’s vital and irreplaceable role.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed hope that the momentum generated by the peace settlement conference would boost international recognition of the State of Palestine. He praised the recent announcement by the French President regarding France’s intention to recognize the Palestinian state, and reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people—especially their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
