CAIRO - 16 June 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty made phone calls with U.S.’ Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Senior Middle Eastern Advisor Massad Boulos, as well as his counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Bahrain.

The call with Witkoff and the Arab foreign ministers addressed the accelerating escalation in the Middle East following the military confrontation between Israel and Iran and the grave threat it poses to the security and stability of the region.

Abdelatty emphasized the need to contain the situation and resort to political and diplomatic solutions to prevent the region from slipping into a vicious cycle of violence. He also highlighted the importance of a ceasefire and the resumption of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran regarding the Iranian nuclear program.

Meanwhile, the call between the Foreign Minister and Massad Boulos addressed the latest developments in Sudan and Libya, with both sides emphasizing the importance of intensifying joint Egyptian-American cooperation and coordination to push for political solutions to these crises, as well as the importance of supporting national institutions and respecting states' sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

It was also agreed that there are no military solutions to the crises raging in the region, but rather only political solutions within the framework of international law.
