CAIRO – 2 June 2021: Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Diab al-Louh hailed the Egyption efforts to unify the Palestinian factions and solidify the ceasefire.

He noted that these efforts reflect the depth of the relationship between Presidents Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas.

In statements to Extra News channel, Diab said that Egypt is not a just a broker or mediator in this issue, but rather ‘a partner’, as that partnership has been renewed over the past years, especially during the difficult circumstances that Palestine is going through.

Diab stressed that the Palestinian side relies a lot on the Egyptian role as a large and central country in the region, adding: "Egypt is seeking to solidify the ceasefire and put the necessary arrangements to prevent the recurrence of aggression”

Earlier in May, al-Louh thanked Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al Sisi for the continuous support for the Palestinian cause.

He stressed in statements, that “this is Egypt which is always keen to preserve the blood of the Palestinian people”.

“We hope that Egypt will continue its efforts with Jordan to stop the Israeli aggression immediately and provide fair protection for the Palestinians.” al-Louh said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas praises Egypt’s ‘national stance’ to support the Palestinian people facing the Israeli ongoing aggression.

In a statement, Abbas expressed his high appreciation and thanks to president Abdel Fattah al Sisi, and his important initiative to contribute in supporting the Palestinian people to rebuild what was destroyed in Gaza.

According Palestinian news agency WAFA, Abbas said that this national and historic Egyptian stance proves the reality of Egypt and its role in the Arab world in supporting the Palestinian people and defending their rights until the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed that Egypt was and remains the strong supporter and defender of the Palestinian inalienable and historical rights, on top of which are the Islamic and Christian sanctities.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi announced during his visit to Paris in May that Egypt is allocating $500 million to the reconstruction of Gaza Strip, and that Egyptian firms will take part in the work.

The announcement was made during his participation in a tripartite summit with his French counterpart Emanuel Macron and Kind Abdullah of Jordan.
