Following a recent visit to Egypt, U.S. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis stated, “I left Cairo very confident in the avenues we have to advance our military-to-military relationship, which has been a bedrock and has stood solid all these years.” U.S. and Egyptian naval forces also recently partnered for a four-day joint operation in the Red Sea to conduct combat, anti-piracy and search-and-rescue mission training. Egypt has long been a vital ally of the U.S. Military in the Middle East.
