CAIRO – 2 December 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will inaugurate on Monday, Dec. 3 the International Defense and Security Industry Exhibition "EDEX-2018" hosted by Egypt for the first time from December 3 to 5 in Egypt's International Exhibition Center.
Organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Defense and Military Production, "EDEX-2018" will attract more than 10,000 visitors interested in the field of armaments and defense industries.
The exhibition hosts 373 international companies from 41 countries, including 42 U.S. companies, 37 French companies, 28 Chinese companies and 13 Russian companies.
Furthermore, 10 defense ministries from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Sudan, France, Greece, Cyprus, South Sudan, Cameroon, Somalia and South Korea will attend the exhibition.
Additionally, seven main arms departments from the United States, China, Russia, France, Germany, Italy and UAE will participate in the exhibition and several military authorities will give educational lectures on the sidelines of the exhibition.
As for the Egyptian pavilion in the exhibition, Egyptian military products, including arms and equipment jointly manufactured by the Armed Forces, the National Organization for Military Production (NOMP), and the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) will be included in the exhibition.
During EDEX-2018, a press center will be established to serve national and international media and provide information to international channels and agencies.
EDEX-2018 is an important event that will be held every two years to showcase Egyptian military products.
Previously, Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed al-Assar said during a press conference organized by the Armed Forces in cooperation with the Military Production Ministry on December 12, 2017 that the political leadership is keen to make the Egyptian exhibition of defense and military industries a major international event.
He pointed out that this exhibition will represent a qualitative leap for the neighboring countries. It will also show the latest developments in the field of global armament technology and industries related to military manufacturing.
The Egyptian military establishment will provide all possible facilities for the exhibition's success, reflecting the regional status of the Egyptian army, Assar added.
