CAIRO - 6 April 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty had a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, during which they discussed the latest developments in Gaza, the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
The call came within the framework of regular communication between the two countries to discuss developments regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip.
The two ministers discussed efforts to return to the ceasefire agreement and ensure the implementation of its three phases, including the release of hostages and prisoners and the entry of humanitarian, medical, and shelter aid into Gaza. This was despite the latest dangerous Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and Israel's insistence on using brutal military force against civilians and preventing the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
Both sides reviewed developments in Sudan, with Minister Abdelatty emphasizing Egypt's support for Sudanese national institutions and their efforts to restore stability and peace, expressing Egypt's position calling for respect for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Sudan.
The two sides also discussed developments in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, and ways to achieve security and stability in Somalia and preserve its territorial integrity.
The Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt's continued support for Somali efforts to combat terrorism and enhance the capabilities of the Somali National Army in this field. Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's rejection of the involvement of non-littoral states in Red Sea security arrangements and governance.
