CAIRO – 19 March 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Tuesday from Annette Weber, the EU envoy to the Horn of Africa, to exchange views on the latest developments and challenges in the Horn of Africa.
According to an official statement by Egyptian Ministry f Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdelatty affirmed Cairo’s commitment to promoting peaceful solutions and settling regional conflicts through dialogue and joint cooperation.
He also highlighted the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to address the security challenges facing the countries of the region.
The Egyptian minister briefed the European official on Egypt's efforts and mediation to support stability in the Horn of Africa.
Moreover, he expressed keenness to learn about the European envoy’s impressions from her recent visit to Port Sudan, emphasizing the specifics of the Egyptian position regarding the need to preserve the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Sudan.
Furthermore, He expressed his hope for calming the situation in Sudan and restoring security and stability.
Minister Abdelatty also stressed the importance of supporting Somalia's stability and the need to respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, affirming Egypt's commitment to continuing its efforts to support Somali state institutions.
