CAIRO – 26 February 2025: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi met on Wednesday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk to discuss the social protection package prepared by the government.
The package will include an increase of financial resources disbursed through the monetary subsidies programme Takaful W Karama, in addition to raises for pensioners and public employees by July 2025.
The president was also briefed on the status of the strategic stocks of staple goods, given that demand increases during the holy month of Ramadan that will begin on Saturday. In that framework, the president urged maintaining temporary/mobile markets offering subsidized food products.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President the need for the government to continue making every effort to support the most vulnerable groups, improve targeting of families deserving of support, and continue to work on developing the best policies and programs for social protection in coordination between the relevant state agencies.
