Switzerland Returns Stolen Fragment of the Statue of Ramses II to Egypt

Egypt has managed to retrieve a stolen fragment of a 3,400-year-old statue of Ramses II from Switzerland.

The stolen part of Ramses II statue had been seized in Geneva as part of criminal proceedings.

The Swiss Federal Office of Culture returned the fragment to the Egyptian embassy in Switzerland.

The fragment was stolen from the Temple of Ramses II in Abydos between the late 1980s and early 1990s.
