Within the framework of activating the cooperation protocol held by the Ministry of Culture with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, the Supreme Council of Culture, in cooperation with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities headed by Dr. and organizing cultural activities.
The two workshops were held in the conference hall of the Supreme Council of Culture during the period from (May 21-25). The training was attended by 46 trainees. The training was conducted by Rasha Ernest, a disability integration expert who specializes in the field of cultural development for persons with disabilities. The training on the first day included introducing the participants to the cognitive aspect. To develop the concept of disability and models of disability by focusing on the concept from a social perspective, the importance of language that promotes positive attitudes towards the inclusion of persons with disabilities, as well as the role of culture in developing societal awareness of diversity and acceptance of difference.
On the second day of the training, the trainees applied various cultural activities, such as cinema, theater, plastic arts workshops, and how to plan, taking into account the inclusion of different disabilities, and identified the frameworks and procedures that must be available when planning inclusive activities.
The training also dealt with the knowledge aspect of integrating persons with disabilities into the culture axis in Egypt's 2030 strategy, and indicators for measuring increasing their participation and integration in the various cultural sectors, which were presented by Eng. Wael Hammam, responsible for the Planning and Follow-up Department of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities.
The training officials of the Supreme Council of Culture and officials of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities will resume coordinating and organizing two upcoming workshops in the basics of sign language during the period from (18-21 June). The principle of cultural justice and the principle of equal opportunities and the empowerment of persons with disabilities in the various fields of culture.
