Year 2021 Witnessed: Egypt to head the Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism from 2021 to 2023

The Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism elected Egypt as the head of its executive office for the years from “2021 to 2023.” It also decided to elect the Sultanate of Oman as a vice president, and that the membership of the executive office would be made up of “Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, and Palestine.”

The Arab Tourism Ministerial Council decided, at the conclusion of its 24th session, which was held today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the Arab League, to choose the Jordanian city of Madaba as the capital of Arab tourism for 2022.

The Council called on countries and tourism authorities in the Arab countries and the Arab Tourism Organization to increase the technical support provided to the State of Palestine within the framework of the recommendations contained in the working paper submitted by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in the State of Palestine to develop the Palestinian tourism industry, in addition to directing part of the programs of Arab tourism authorities to implement projects Relief and development efforts that would mitigate the effects of the Israeli aggression and the negative effects of the Corona pandemic, which harmed the Palestinian economy.

The Council assigned the Arab Tourism Organization to quickly determine a timetable for each of these courses and the content of the training programs, and to indicate the total financial cost of each.


The Council decided to present the final version of the document for the training of human cadres in the tourism sector in the Arab countries for the year 2022, to the Member States by the Executive Office for consideration for adoption.

The decision issued by the Economic and Social Council regarding the document of general Arab guiding principles to standardize procedures for registration, approval and use of vaccines among Arab countries was welcomed.

And decided to refer the document proposed by the General Authority for Tourism in the State of Libya on the strategy of soft tourism in the Arab countries to the Committee for the Development of the Arab Strategy for Tourism headed by Egypt to consider its inclusion within the axes of the Arab strategy for tourism when updated.

The Council called on the ministries and bodies of tourism, heritage and antiquities in the Arab countries and the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science to present the capabilities available to them of expertise and experts to support the proposal of the project to establish a National Human Heritage House in the State of Libya.

The council instructed the Arab Tourism Organization, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, to study and express an opinion on the proposal of a program to train human cadres in the tourism sector in the Arab countries with a training program in innovation skills and digital transformation in the tourism sector, as well as the establishment of a virtual Arab observatory for tourism innovation for emerging enterprises and the establishment of a social network An Arab region specialized in tourism innovation to present Arab experts and expertise to emerging institutions and present the results to the next session of the Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism to consider this matter.

The council also called on the committee to develop the Arab strategy for tourism headed by Egypt to study the possibility of adding new axes to the Arab strategy for tourism when updating it, including the development of inter-Arab cooperation in the field of tourism and enhancing the confidence of Arab tourists and the model Arab strategy for tourism security prepared by the Council of Arab Interior Ministers after its approval by the council Arab Tourism and identifying precautionary health measures in the tourism field to face emergency situations such as the Corona virus pandemic.
