The Library of Alexandria is preparing to issue a special edition of "Memory of the Arabs" and invites researchers to participate

The Center for Islamic Civilization Studies in the Academic Research Sector of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with the “Memory of the Arabs” magazine published by the library, invited researchers to submit research papers in the context of preparing for the issuance of a special issue of the magazine titled: “Cairo the Forum of Cultures and Civilizations from their inception to the end of the Mamluk era”, and that On the occasion of choosing the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) Cairo as the capital of Islamic culture 2020.


"Memory of the Arabs" magazine is a scientific, revolutionary, scientific journal concerned with the cultural and civilizational heritage of Arab countries, and it was issued by the Library of Alexandria for the first time in 2018 with the aim of emphasizing the importance of restoring Arab memory to the present Arab present, and it is issued by the "Memory of the Arabs" project in the academic research sector in the library.


The magazine called on researchers who wish to participate to present new and innovative research topics about Cairo from its inception until the end of the Mamluk era (noting that the deadline for submitting the complete research is on 10/30/2020).

According to research themes, it includes - the Islamic capitals of Egypt before the founding of the city of Cairo - the Mosque of Amr ibn al-As and its educational role in the first three centuries of Islam - the founding of Cairo, and its civilized role in the Fatimid era.

These topics also include topics on the Al-Azhar Mosque and its educational role in the Fatimid period - Cairo schools as a center for the transmission of science in the Ayyubid and Mamluk eras - Qalat al-Jabal, the center of rule in the Ayyubid and Mamluk eras - new studies in architecture and Islamic arts in Cairo.


These axes also include the aristocratic neighborhoods of the Mamluk era (Barakat Al-Fil - Azbakeya) - economic and social life in Islamic Cairo, and the development of its institutions (agencies - bars - hotels - markets and artisanal sects and industries - institutions of a social nature - the role - bathrooms - marstans).
