CAIRO - 4 April 2022: The exports of the Egyptian food industry raised by 3 percent in the first two months of 2022, reaching $625 million against $609 million in the corresponding period in 2021, Chairman of the Food Export Council Hany Barzy on Monday.
In a statement on Monday, Barzy pointed out that Arab countries topped the list of international groups importing food industry products from Egypt, according to the state news agency, MENA.
Exports to the Arab markets amounted to $379 million in the first two month of 2022, representing 61 percent of the total food exports, Barzy explained.
The European Union came second in the list with a value of $88 million, representing 14 percent of Egypt's total food exports, Barzy said.
It was followed by non-Arab African countries with the value of food imported from Egypt amounting to $51 million, representing 8 percent of the total.
The value of food exports to the US upped by 9 percent to $34 million, representing 5 percent of Egypt's total food exports.
The rest of the international groups recorded $73 million worth of food imports from Egypt during the same period, representing 12 percent of the total Egyptian food exports.
