Egypt’s FM intensifies contacts to resume negotiations on Iranian nuclear file

CAIRO – 8 September 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a series of phone calls with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi.

These calls aim to create conditions for the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the IAEA regarding the Iranian nuclear file, and to bring the views of the various concerned parties closer together with the aim of reaching a sustainable settlement in order to create a supportive climate for regional security and stability.

These contacts come within the framework of intensive efforts exerted by Egypt to reach understandings that contribute to converging the views of Iran, the United States, and the European Three (E3).

The aim is to provide an opportunity for diplomatic solutions and dialogue, to return to the negotiating table, and to reach a consensual settlement regarding the Iranian nuclear file, to prevent escalation, and to support peace and security at the regional and international levels.
