CAIRO – 28 August 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity as he welcomed Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on his first official visit to Egypt.
Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s ongoing communications with various regional and international actors to emphasize the need to ensure Lebanon’s stability and achieve full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
Cairo also emphasizes the importance of international support for Lebanon’s state institutions, particularly the army, to enable it to fulfill its national responsibilities, the president added.
Sisi commended the positive steps taken by the Lebanese government in recent months to restore the regular functioning of state institutions and to impose their authority over all Lebanese territory.
The President affirmed Egypt’s full support for Lebanon’s efforts to restore stability and embark on economic recovery and reconstruction.
He stressed the importance of the Lebanese state continuing to exert all necessary efforts to ensure that Lebanon’s stability, internal safety, and national unity are not compromised.
Prime Minister Salam expressed his deep appreciation to Sisi for Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon, reflecting the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations and peoples.
Salam outlined the key priorities of his government for the coming period, chief among them enhancing cooperation and integration with Arab countries, particularly Egypt.
The Lebanese prime minister also referenced ongoing preparations to convene the 10th session of the Egyptian–Lebanese Joint Higher Committee, scheduled to be held in Cairo this year.
As the meeting also addressed several regional issues, the two sides affirmed the alignment of Egyptian and Lebanese positions regarding developments in the Gaza Strip.
They agreed on the need to intensify joint efforts to find political and peaceful solutions to the crises facing several countries in the region, while emphasizing the necessity of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of those states.
They agreed to maintain ongoing consultation and coordination between Egypt and Lebanon, in a manner that serves shared interests and enhances regional security and stability.
