CAIRO - 27 August 2025: The Egyptian Red Crescent has deployed its 23rd humanitarian aid convoy, delivering nearly 200 trucks of food and relief supplies to the Gaza Strip.
The convoy, which is part of Egypt's daily land bridge for aid, transported more than 3,700 tons of essential supplies to southern Gaza via the Kerem Abu Salem crossing. The shipments included approximately 3,500 tons of food baskets and flour and over 200 tons of crucial relief materials.
The "Zad El Ezza... From Egypt to Gaza" convoy, launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent on July 27, has now delivered thousands of tons of diverse aid, including food, flour, baby formula, medical supplies, and fuel.
The Egyptian Red Crescent has been a key national coordinating body for aid to Gaza since the crisis began. Its efforts have facilitated the entry of over half a million tons of humanitarian and relief aid, a monumental task supported by 35,000 volunteers. The report clarifies that the Rafah crossing has never been permanently closed on the Egyptian side. The Egyptian Committee in Gaza continues to distribute aid to those in need, using a clear mechanism to ensure all supplies reach deserving families.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to worsen. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, three more people died from starvation and malnutrition in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition to 303, including 117 children.
Simultaneously, medical sources in Gaza confirmed that several Palestinians were killed and injured in Israeli airstrikes across various parts of the Strip on Tuesday. Israeli forces reportedly bombed Al-Basateen Street in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood and demolished several homes.
Since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has climbed to 62,819, with the majority being women and children. The number of injured has reached 158,629. Many victims remain trapped under the rubble, inaccessible to ambulance and civil defense crews. The total number of casualties since Israel violated the ceasefire agreement on March 18 has reached 10,975 killed and 46,588 injured.
The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under five has doubled between March and June due to the ongoing blockade.
Separately, demonstrations were held in several parts of Israel, organized by the families of detainees in Gaza. Protesters demanded that the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu end the war and secure the return of their loved ones.
Protesters, including the families of the detainees, blocked roads and intersections, particularly in Tel Aviv. Participants set tires on fire to block streets, holding up pictures of the detainees and banners calling for an end to the war. They accused the prime minister of repeatedly sacrificing civilians for his own political survival.
