CAIRO – 11 August 2025: The 11th humanitarian aid convoy, under the Egyptian Red Crescent’s initiative “Zad Al-Izzah: From Egypt to Gaza,” began entering the Gaza Strip on Sunday.
The convoy is delivering essential relief supplies to Palestinians affected by the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza, which has damaged basic facilities including bakeries and hospitals, depleted the resources of the enclave and sent the enclave on brink of famine.
The aid trucks crossed from Egypt through a side gate at the Rafah border crossing and proceeded toward the Karm Abu Salem crossing in southeastern Gaza, where they were subjected to inspection by Israeli forces before being allowed to reach civilians in the besieged enclave.
Since early Sunday morning, dozens of trucks loaded with food, medical supplies, and other humanitarian essentials had lined up outside the Rafah crossing.
This latest shipment includes items such as cooking oil, sugar, baby formula, loaves of bread, food parcels, and other critical supplies. Fuel for vital infrastructure is also being delivered, along with contributions from the National Alliance for Civil Development Work and various civil society groups.
The consecutive convoys aim to ease the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, where over two million Palestinians are enduring the devastating effects of months of war amidst heavy Israeli restrictions on aid, which amounted to a full ban for nearly three months this year.
The entry of the aid comes after the Israeli army had announced a 10-hour pause in fighting in several areas across Gaza, since late in July to facilitate aid deliveries amidst global backlash over a widespread starvation and a looming famine.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 200 people have died from starvation and malnutrition so far, nearly half of them children, adding to a rapidly rising toll from Israeli strikes, which has surpassed 61,250 since the war began.
