CAIRO – 28 August 2025: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly praised on Wednesday the historic relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
He affirmed that the past few days have witnessed a number of important activities undertaken by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, within the framework of his intensive efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and several countries in the region, as well as to coordinate positions with Arab leaders in light of the current challenges facing the region, and to explore areas of joint cooperation.
This came as Madbouly presided over the weekly Cabinet meeting Wednesday at the government headquarters in New Alamein City, to discuss a number of issues and key files.
Madbouly pointed out that President El Sisi recently visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he met in the city of NEOM with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to hold extensive talks on several topics of mutual interest between the two countries.
Madbouly said the leaders’ meeting addressed developments on regional and international issues of common concern, including Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in coordination with various parties, as well as in-depth discussions on the importance of enhancing joint investments and expediting the launch of the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council as a comprehensive framework for developing relations at all levels.
Agreements were also reached on launching further partnerships in industrial integration, localization of technological industries, transport, new and renewable energy, and urban development.
He stressed that the government must act swiftly to implement what was agreed upon at this meeting and translate it into specific executive measures to strengthen the partnership with the Saudi side, particularly in the mentioned sectors.
At the same time, the Prime Minister referred to the visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to Egypt, stressing that the UAE President’s visit to Egypt came within the framework of strengthening ties between the two brotherly leaderships, and reaffirming the importance of continuous consultation and mutual coordination to serve the interests of the two peoples and enhance regional security.
He noted that there is ongoing cooperation with the UAE in several fields, and efforts are underway to strengthen and expand this cooperation.
Regarding the activities and events he carried out over the past week, Madbouly referred to his participation — on behalf of President Sisi — in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). He noted that, on the sidelines of the summit, he met with officials from several Japanese and African organizations, as well as the heads of leading Japanese companies.
He also highlighted his participation in the Egypt-Japan Business Council Forum, which brought together several major Egyptian and Japanese companies, where opportunities to strengthen cooperation in both the Egyptian and Japanese markets were discussed, and a large number of agreements were signed covering many strategic sectors.
The Prime Minister said he views such participation in international events and conferences as a highly favorable opportunity to present the steps and executive measures taken by the Egyptian state in recent years to advance the national economy.
There was also a chance to showcase the investment opportunities available in the Egyptian market across all sectors.
Japanese officials, he added, have already been invited to establish a Japanese industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, with further promotional efforts to follow.
