CAIRO - 14 May 2025: Egypt welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump's statements on Tuesday during his visit to Saudi Arabia, in which he acknowledged “the Palestinian people's right to a better future.”

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Egypt's hope that Trump’s important Gulf tour to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, as well as the release of the last living U.S. hostage in Gaza through Egyptian, Qatari, and U.S. mediation, will contribute to reaching a ceasefire, the release of all hostages and detainees, and the flow of urgent humanitarian aid to the strip.

The statement reiterated that the Palestinians “truly deserve a better future in their homeland.”

Egypt counts on Trump's leadership and efforts to achieve lasting regional security and stability, the statement said.

Egypt emphasizes support for the Egyptian-Qatari-U.S. mediation efforts towards a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, as a prelude to the implementation of the Arab Plan for Early Recovery and Reconstruction.

It also urges all parties “not to obstruct these efforts” so the aspirations and rights of the peoples of the region to peace, prosperity, and development, can be met. That includes the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
