FM expresses Egypt’s desire for EU to continue providing aid to Gaza

CAIRO – 12 March 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty, and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas discussed Monday over the phone the latest regional developments.



The phone call touched upon Gaza’s reconstruction plan endorsed by the Arab Summit last week, as well as recent violence in Syria.

The minister welcomed the statement released by Kallas to support the reconstruction plan presented by Egypt, stressing the importance of concerting international efforts to guarantee its implementation. Reviewing the international conference hosted by Cairo in April 2025 to garner support and funds for the plan.

Moreover, Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s desire for the the EU to continue providing humanitarian aid to Gaza to alleviate the catastrophic crisis facing residents.

He noted the salience of pressuring for the execution of the three stages of the ceasefire agreement that went into effect in January.

The minister further added that the two-state solution was the only pathway guaranteeing sustainable peace in the region.

Regarding Syria, the two sides discussed the violence that erupted in coastal cities that resulted in the death of over 1,000, including 745 civilians. The rest were members of the former regime.

On that front, the Egyptian minister stressed the importance of preserving the unity, territorial integrity, and state institutions of Syria by launching an inclusive political process that does not disregard the rights of any sect.
