CAIRO - 30 June 2022: The giant container ship "EVER ART" crossed for the first time the New Suez Canal within a convoy on its journey coming from Malaysia, and heading to the port of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
EVER ART is the largest container ship in the world, and follows the shipping line "EVER GREEN".
He further stressed that the authority is moving forward towards implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to enhance the canal's ability to provide the best service to its customers through the continuation of Development projects in the canal.
According to him, the authority is implementing a project to develop the southern sector of the canal, which will contribute to increasing the navigational safety in that sector by 28 percent and increasing the discharge capacity by 6 new ships.
The navigation traffic in the canal witnessed Thursday, the crossing of 83 ships with a total net tonnage of 4.8 million tons.
