CAIRO - 20 April 2022: Egypt's Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker reviewed on Tuesday with the Director of the International Renewable Energy Agency's (IRENA) Project Facilitation and Support division (PFS) Ahmed Badr and his accompanying delegation ways to support Egypt in preparing for the UN COP27.
UN COP27 is set to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh city in November.
In a statement, Shaker hailed the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the Electricity and New and Renewable Energy Ministry and IRENA, asserting the need to bolster cooperation with the agency in various renewable energy domains.
Shaker pointed out that Egypt cooperates with global companies to start talks and studies to implement experimental projects to produce green hydrogen. He asserted that Egypt is keen to be a gateway for clean energy in Africa.
Meantime, Badr praised the distinguished relations between IRENA and Egypt, expressing readiness for offering support to Egypt to prepare well for the UN COP27.
He also voiced his interest in cooperating with the Egyptian ministry in the green hydrogen domain as it is a promising source of clean energy.
