Last US train engines batch arrived at Egypt

The Egyptian Railway Authority received Tuesday the last batch of the U.S. train engines. This batch includes 10 new engines, and it arrived at Alexandria Port.

CAIRO – 30 March 2021: The Egyptian Railway Authority received Tuesday the last batch of the U.S. train engines. This batch includes 10 new engines, and it arrived at Alexandria Port.


Before the new batch, Egypt has received five batches including 100 US-manufactured train engines as part of the a contract with the US General Electric to manufacture 110 train engines.



The $602 million contract also included providing maintenance and spare parts for 181 train engines for 15 years, training of 30 engineers and 245 railway technicians at General Electric factories.
