Dr. Fathi Abdel Wahab, Head of the Cultural Development Fund Sector, and Dr. Ahmed Heno, General Commissar of the Cairo International Animation Forum, inaugurated the activities of the thirteenth session of the Forum, which is organized by the Fund Sector.
The opening witnessed the presence of Ambassador Tomislav Bosniak, Ambassador of Croatia in Cairo, Dr. Murat Gatin, Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Cairo, Mr. David Sadoli, Counselor for Cultural Cooperation at the French Embassy in Cairo, Mr. Nadine Dolater, Deputy Counselor for Cultural Cooperation at the French Embassy in Cairo, Georgy Todrov, Cultural Counselor at the Embassy of Bulgaria, along with a number of Senior Professionals in Animation Arts.
The events began with the inauguration of the animation exhibition in Adam Henein Hall at the Hanager Center for the Arts, and it included the works of graduates of the animation departments at the Faculties of Fine Arts at the Universities of Helwan, Alexandria, and Luxor, in addition to the Higher Institute of Cinema at the Academy of Arts; A group of art paintings with materials (acrylic / gouache / oil / drilling), and works of cellular landscapes of different places of gardens, mosques and ancient Egyptian archaeological sites were displayed.
On the stage of the Hanager Arts Center, the Forum Awards Ceremony was held, which began with honoring a number of Egyptian icons in the field of animation, namely the great artist “Sami Maghawi”, the artist “Islam El-Sayed”, the director “Atia Adel Khairy”, the musician “Sherif Nour”, and Dr. Hani Abdel Khaleq.
In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Hanno, the forum’s comsire, stressed that the Ministry of Culture is keen to encourage and support the field of animation, and this is evident in its support for the establishment of this important international forum, and this year witnessed wide international participation, and the number of participating works reached 110 films, from 33 countries, which enhances Of the local and international prestige of the recipient.
This was followed by the announcement of the winners of the forum's prizes, which came as follows: a grant to produce a short animation film "Hajbat"; The first work competition was won by the film "Bring to Life" by director Maya Mazhar from Egypt in first place; The movie "Bob and Mima" by Ahmed Onsi from Egypt came in second place, and the jury's certificate of participation for the movie "Charlie the Cat" by Nadine Gamal was presented.
The Animation Short Films Competition won first place with the movie Dry Season Fruits by Denko Komanvik from Croatia, and Diyar by Moayad Al-Hariri from the Netherlands; In the Experimental Animation Competition, War directed by Dimitr Dimitrov from Bulgaria won first place, and Chitchat by Flora Penn et al. from France won second place.
In the Animation Feature Film Competition, Teddy Boom directed by Denis Chernov from Russia won first place, and The Everlasting Story by Andrea Koplin from Russia won second place; The competition for animation advertisements, film introductions and series introductions.
Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to: Director Mohamed Ahmed for the best music for the movie “Al-Azhar in the Age of the Ottoman Empire”, director Alan Pedrad from France for the best character design for “Opal”, director Denis Chernov from Russia for best directing for “Teddy Boom”, And director Amr Kamal for the best wallpaper design.
