Egypt’s FM discusses outcomes of recent nuclear deal talks in Geneva with Iranian Counterpart

CAIRO – 22 June 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty met on Saturday with his Iranian Mr. Abbas Araqchi, on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting held in Istanbul.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty outlined the intensive diplomatic efforts Egypt has undertaken in recent days to promote de-escalation and achieve a ceasefire. He emphasized the urgent need to rely on diplomatic and political channels to reach a sustainable agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue, in order to contain rising tensions and prevent further destabilization in the region.

For his part, Minister Araqchi reviewed the outcomes of his recent talks in Geneva on June 20 with the foreign ministers of the European Troika (Britain, France, and Germany), as well as the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, concerning the Iranian nuclear file.

The two ministers agreed to maintain open channels of communication and continue consultations aimed at resolving the current crisis in a way that safeguards regional security and stability.
