The artist, Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, launches the "Cinema of the People" project, which aims to present contemporary and modern cinematic works at symbolic prices within the reach of all segments of society and the simple Egyptian citizen through the palaces and houses of culture scattered in various governorates of Egypt.
The project will be implemented in cinemas of the General Authority for Culture Palaces headed by director Hisham Atwa and under the supervision of the artist Tamer Abdel Moneim, Director General of Cinematic Culture, starting from the first days of Eid Al-Fitr 2022. , Al-Anfoushi Culture Palace in Alexandria, Al-Bahr Al-Adham Library in Giza as a first stage and then circulated throughout the Republic and includes short fiction or short documentary films produced by the Ministry of Culture represented by the Academy of Arts, the National Center for Cinema and the General Administration of Cinematic Culture, shown before the beginning of the main cinematography presented by major distribution companies Which contributes to shedding light on the distinguished works produced by the Ministry of Culture and contributes to spreading community awareness as well as distinguished independent works.
Abdel Dayem said: The project highlights the state’s belief in the role of arts and culture and the influence of soft powers in shaping public awareness. Film works from different countries of the world to the homeland, and added that in order to attract all segments of society, and in implementation of the principle of cultural justice, which is one of the axes of the work of the Ministry of Culture, it was decided that the prices of tickets for the shows would be only 40 pounds, noting the importance of the project in spreading enlightenment and cinematic culture And confronting extremist ideology through serious and purposeful creative materials, and she described the project as a real and effective addition to the creative activities and events that are presented in cultural sites. She added that the second phase includes 4 other governorates: Desouq Culture Palace and Kafr El-Sheikh in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Siwa Culture Palace cinema in Matrouh Governorate, a cinema Hips in the New Valley, Cinema of the Culture Palace, Sharm El Sheikh, South Sinai.
