Prof. Dr. Khaled Sorour, Head of the Plastic Arts Sector, the Brazilian Ambassador in Cairo "Antonio Patriota" and a group of attendees opened this evening at 7:00 pm a photographic exhibition entitled "Return to Egypt" to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the journey of the Brazilian Emperor Dom Pedro II to Egypt. Egypt.
Dr. Khaled Sorour said that this exhibition is very special, because it comes to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the visit of the Brazilian Emperor Dom Pedro, stressing that the Egyptian and Brazilian peoples share many things and meanings rooted in the spirit, including a passion for the arts and a love for football.
Khaled Sorour added that the exhibition is a picture of love and brotherhood between two countries, Egypt and Brazil, expressing thanks for the efforts of the Gezira Arts Center in bringing this exhibition to light.
For his part, the Brazilian ambassador thanked the Ministry of Culture for its efforts in adopting the appearance of this exhibition. He also extended his sincere gratitude to the employees of the Brazilian embassy, praising the cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Al Jazeera Arts Center.
The ambassador said: This exhibition is an opportunity to remember the relations of brotherhood and friendship, adding that the Brazilian Emperor Dom Pedro is the first president from South America to visit Egypt on his journey 150 years ago.
The exhibition includes 92 photographs in addition to 11 indicative panels that chronicle the two periods of the emperor’s visit to Egypt (archaeological sites - buildings - mosques - the pillar of Alexandria - the Nile), all of which express the political, social and economic reality in Egypt between 1871 and 1876. Well-known photographers from France and Brazil, such as (Antonio Beto - Pascal Seba), and the photos are an important historical documentation of the features of life in Egypt during this time period and an opportunity for researchers, students and historians.
The exhibition will continue until November 30 at the Gezira Art Center next to the Marriott Hotel in Zamalek, with appointments daily from 10 am: 2 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm, except for Friday.
