The Ptolemaic dynasty was almost dead before the arrival of Cleopatra to rule Egypt. However, it precipitated the Romans' occupation of Egypt, not by military force only, but by inflaming the hearts and minds of its leaders, which led them to occupy it and turn it into part of the Roman Empire.

The book "Queens of the Pharaohs: Drama of Love and Power" by Dr. Hussein Abdel-Basir says that after the death of Ptolemy the Twelfth Piper, the throne was transferred to his son and daughter, but the two had the ambition to rule each of them independently. A severe struggle fell between them, through which Cleopatra found that she not only fights her brother, but also the men of the palace. She decided to flee until she had a chance to return.

The book adds, and Cleopatra was planning to return to power, and the struggle in Rome to control her was most intense between Julius Caesar and his friend and partner Pompey, and the conflict ended with the defeat of Pompey, and his escape to Egypt, hoping to find a response to his favor with the sons of Ptolemy the Piper, as it was Pompey who brought him back To Egypt, Pompey arrived in Egypt, but was killed, and Julius Caesar arrived in Alexandria, and when he learned of Pompey's killing, he was very sad for his friend, and honored his resting place, and after Julius Caesar calmed down from the shock of killing his friend, he began wandering around the city as if he were the king of the country. This provoked many Alexandrians.

Julius Caesar knew of the problems between the two brothers, so he sent in their request, and Cleopatra entered the palace through her servant who wrapped her in a rug, so she came out of her as Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty emerging from the shell, so Julius Caesar was dazzled by her. After defeating her brother, Cleopatra VII was declared Queen of Egypt.

The book "Queens of the Pharaohs .. Drama of Love and Power" indicated, and she had to pay the price of Caesar's help for her, and the price was a three-month Nile cruise, from which Cleopatra returned with him, and Caesar returned to Rome after Cleopatra was declared queen of Egypt, and her husband is from her brother Ptolemy XIV, and soon Cleopatra gave birth to a son by Julius Caesar, "Caesar", and the Egyptians sarcastically called him "Caesarion".

During this period of Cleopatra's rule, Egypt witnessed a strong recovery in the economy and political life, and Cleopatra visited Rome and met Caesar, and she felt as if she had become queen over Rome, and she stayed there for two years, then Julius Caesar was killed in the Senato.

And the unexpected end of Caesar represented a vexing shock to Cleopatra, who gathered her grief, returned to Egypt, and declared her son her partner in power, after she killed her brother Ptolemy the Fourteenth!
