Orientalists were fascinated by all the details that represent Egypt's civilizational history, so the markets had a large share, especially those in heritage places and Mamluk architectural styles, which are an important characteristic of the great Egyptian heritage that extends for thousands of years, including what we find in the painting "The Carpet Seller in Cairo" French painter Jean Lyon Jerome, drawn in 1887, is from the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

And because the painting revolves around carpets, an art whose beauty depends on noticing its details and colors, we notice a great interest in the colors, which appears in all its details, starting from the pale color of the agency walls inside the carpet market, so as to reflect the brightness of the colors that we see in the details inside the painting, Passing through the outfits of the characters, carpet cuttings on the floor awaiting the show, all the way to the main carpet shown.

In this displayed rug we see its completion. The French artist, through proportionality between its size and the size of the existing characters, was able to inspire us to be tall, even though it was displayed in this way, there is another part that is not visible, and we may note that the rug exhibitors are silent while the merchants discuss among themselves, Perhaps they talk about the beauty of the rug and its mastery, and they may compete over its price.

In the background of the rug, there is another rug that shows its edges and suggests that their colors are different and that their size is also different, and it is waiting for the offer to be sold after the sale of the basic painting is decided.
