In an attempt to promote Egypt as a travel destination in the US, Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Enany discussed cooperation plans with head of the US Tour Operators Association (USTOA) Terry Dale.
Following the meeting which took place in Cairo on Monday, the Egyptian side released a statement explaining that Dale engaged in talks with Egyptian officials about the ministry's plan to promote Egypt as a destination for American tourists, especially that the Grand Egyptian Museum will open in the last quarter of 2020.
Dale said USTOA wants to hold its annual conference for 2021 in Egypt to put the country on the map of world tourism with a focus on US tour operators.
El-Enany said he welcomed the 2021 USTOA meeting to be held in Egypt, adding that the timing of the conference wouldn't be more appropriate, since it will come on the back of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the renovation of the Pyramids Plateau and Old Cairo.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced that a workshop was held on Monday between Dale and the head of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, representatives of Egyptian tourism companies and hotels, members of Egypt's tourism chambers and a representative from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to discuss ways to increase the flow of American tourists to Egypt.
