CAIRO - 19 May 2022: International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat said her ministry attaches importance to providing development funds for projects to adapt to climate change and mitigate its repercussions.
The ministry’s current portfolio includes 85 projects worth dlrs 11.9 billion in the field of adaptation to climate change and cushioning its fallout; in a way that supports the country’s efforts to implement Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13): climate action, she added.
Mashat made the remarks during her meeting on Thursday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to review a number of files within the ministry’s scope of work.
During the meeting, Mashat reviewed the outcome of her latest visit to London, where she took part in a meeting of the Egyptian business mission to the UK, noting that her speech at the meeting focused on the importance of pushing forward joint cooperation with a view to transforming climate pledges into realistic measures.
Mashat added that she discussed with officials from British and international financial institutions, and members of the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA)’s business mission means of activating innovative financing tools to drive the transition to a green economy.
