CAIRO – 19 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, who lauded Egypt’s outstanding efforts in organizing and hosting the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, affirming his country's full support for Egypt’s endeavors aimed at ending the war.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the Malaysian Prime Minister began the call by congratulating President El-Sisi on the diligent efforts exerted by the Egyptian leadership and the concerned entities to reach an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip. He expressed Malaysia's pride in this historic achievement.
During the call, President El-Sisi reviewed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and Egypt’s intensive efforts, in coordination with the mediators, to implement the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
In this context, President El-Sisi lauded Malaysia's firm and supportive stances on the Palestinian cause.
The President emphasized the alignment of visions between the two countries regarding the importance of building upon the current developments to launch a serious political track that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with the relevant international references.
The President stressed that this is essential to ensuring the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's intention to host the International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. The President said that he looked forward to continuing coordination and cooperation with the Malaysian side in this regard. For his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister welcomed this initiative, and expressed his country's keenness to participate in the conference and engage in the efforts to rebuild the Strip. He also expressed Malaysia's willingness to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, in full coordination with Egypt.
The call also addressed the developments in bilateral relations between Egypt and Malaysia, and ways to advance them towards broader prospects in various fields. President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the visit made by the Malaysian Prime Minister to Egypt in November 2024. The President commended the qualitative leap it brought to the course of cooperation between the two countries, and reaffirmed the importance of continuing to work on implementing the outcomes of that visit.
The two sides emphasized the need to strengthen joint coordination to solidify political, trade, and economic relations, and to expand partnerships in areas such as entrepreneurship, industry, energy, tourism, pharmaceutical manufacturing, as well as supporting ties between the private sectors of both countries.
