US Mediators Witkoff, Kushner praise Egypt’s role in Gaza Ceasefire

CAIRO – 10 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Senior Advisor to the U.S. President, Jared Kushner at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo on Thursday.

The meeting focused on key updates from Sharm El Sheikh negotiations and the extensive efforts to accomplish a ceasefire in Gaza and stop the bloodshed. In this regard, President Sisi welcomed the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, lauding U.S. President Donald Trump’s diligent efforts in this regard.
He stressed the critical urgency to implement the ceasefire immediately without waiting for the signing of the relevant agreement.

The American envoys thanked President El-Sisi and the concerned Egyptian authorities for the great efforts made to reach the agreement. They underscored the robust and strategic relations between Egypt and the United States, affirming that President Trump appreciates President El-Sisi's role in resolving this crisis, and in the region in general. They confirmed that President Trump also appreciates the friendship he shares with President El-Sisi.
Sisi emphasized that Egypt looks forward to continuing cooperation with the United States to implement the agreement based on President Trump’s plan. The President reiterated Egypt's commitment to working closely with the United States to further their partnership in the Middle East peace process that Egypt initiated and the United States has sponsored since the 1970s.

Moreover, he lauded the American, Qatari and Turkish efforts in supporting the Egyptian mediation process in Sharm El Sheikh negotiations. The President confirmed that ending the war and achieving peace in Gaza and the region is a matter on which the wills of all countries and peoples of the region and the world converge.

The President affirmed that Egypt will continue to work with the United States, the mediators as well as concerned parties to implement what has been agreed upon with sincerity and responsibility, including the implementation of the ceasefire, the delivery of sufficient quantities of humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages and captives.

Mr. Witkoff and Mr. Kushner reasserted the United States' appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in ending the war and restoring stability in the region.

President El-Sisi reiterated that Egypt values and supports President Trump's efforts to end conflicts and establish peace in the Middle East and the entire world. Once again, the President emphasized that he looks forward to receiving President Trump in Egypt to witness the signing of this historic agreement in a celebration befitting the event.

The meeting was also attended by Director of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Hassan Rashad, and U.S. Ambassador to Cairo, Herro Mustafa, said spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, in a statement.
