CAIRO – 9 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi called for capitalizing on the momentum resulting from US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza and recent international recognitions of the State of Palestine to launch a peaceful political process leading to a two-state solution.
Sisi made the remarks on Wednesday as he briefed his Algerian Counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune during a phone call on Egypt’s efforts to end the war in Gaza and implement Trump’s plan.
The Egyptian leader discussed the ongoing negotiations hosted by Egypt in Sharm El-Sheikh between Hamas and the Israeli side, with the participation of Qatar and the United States.
Egypt has been hosting intensive talks between high-level delegations from Hamas and Israel since Monday, aimed at ending the war in Gaza within the framework of the recent peace plan proposed by Trump.
During the phone call, Tebboune praised Egypt’s efforts to stop the war, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and reject the displacement of Gaza’s residents.
He affirmed Algeria’s full support for these endeavors aimed at ending the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The two presidents also discussed preparations for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee, set to convene in Cairo next month, and exchanged congratulations on the 52nd anniversary of Egypt’s October 6 victories.
Sisi underscored that Egypt’s leadership and people will never forget the contributions of the Algerian Armed Forces during this war, which reflect Algeria’s enduring Arab solidarity and unwavering commitment to Arab causes.
