CAIRO – 2 September 2025: Egypt sent the 28th humanitarian aid convoy to the Gaza Strip under the initiative “Zad Al-Ezz… From Egypt to Gaza.” The convoy crossed from the Egyptian side of the Rafah Border Crossing on Tuesday morning and moved through the Kerem Shalom Crossing southeast of Gaza.
According to an official source at the Rafah crossing, the convoy includes trucks loaded with essential food supplies such as flour, rice, sugar, oil, canned goods, and infant formula. It also carries fuel shipments, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and other urgent humanitarian relief materials.
The “Zad Al-Ezz… From Egypt to Gaza” initiative was launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent on July 27, delivering thousands of tons of assistance that include food chains, wheat flour, baby formula, medical equipment, therapeutic medicines, and fuel supplies to support Palestinians amid the ongoing crisis.
Since March 2, Israel has kept border crossings into Gaza closed following the end of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement. The occupation forces resumed heavy airstrikes on March 18, violating the truce, and re-entered areas they had previously withdrawn from. Authorities also blocked the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced families, while preventing the delivery of heavy machinery needed to clear rubble and support reconstruction in Gaza.
In May 2025, Israeli authorities allowed only limited quantities of aid into the enclave through a mechanism coordinated with a US security company. This process was rejected by the United Nations, international relief organizations, and UNRWA, as it contradicted established international humanitarian mechanisms and fell far short of meeting the urgent needs of Gaza’s population.
The dispatch of Egypt’s 28th aid convoy highlights Cairo’s continued humanitarian role in supporting the Palestinian people, ensuring the flow of essential supplies despite ongoing restrictions and the worsening humanitarian situation inside the Gaza Strip.
