A Message to the American People in Celebration of Independence Day 2017 from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi

Mon, Jul. 3, 2017
Dear Mr. President, The government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt extend our best wishes to you and the American people on the occasion of the 241st anniversary of the independence of the United States. Egypt and the United States represent one of the oldest and deepest alliances in the Arab world, with diplomatic relations first established in 1922 and reestablished in 1974. Our two nations are bound together by a shared commitment to peace, security and prosperity. We value our partnership as we work together to fight terrorism and extremism, expand commercial and investment opportunities, and encourage Egyptians and Americans to interact in their daily lives. Our partnership is especially important today as Egypt is in the midst of an historic political and economic transition in which we welcome the support of your government and the American people. As your nation celebrates its independence on July 4, the Egyptian people reaffirm the strong and lasting friendship that binds our two nations. Sincerely, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi Office of the President
