CAIRO – 26 January 2026: The Ministry of Interior announced the release of 2,520 inmates under a presidential pardon, marking the 74th Police Day and the 74th anniversary of the historic Battle of Ismailia.
The decision followed a nationwide review conducted by committees formed by the Community Protection Sector, which examined inmates’ files to identify those eligible for the pardon. The review resulted in the inclusion of 2,520 inmates who met the established criteria.
This step comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to implementing a modern penal policy, providing comprehensive care for inmates, and enhancing release mechanisms that support their reintegration into society after rehabilitation and preparation for normal life.
