CAIRO – 7 June 2021: Egypt is launching the first phase of projects to convert waste into energy with investments amounting to $350 million in eight governorates across the country, according to Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad.
“These projects will be a qualitative leap in the mechanisms of dealing with the waste problem,” Minister Fouad added during a symposium titled “Environment and the Future Nation Party."
She also cited other projects the ministry is carrying out including: coal mill projects and biogas projects, she said.
Another project that she highlighted is the redrawing of the boundaries of the reserves as to develop areas surrounding them without harming the natural protectorates.
Minister Fouad further ensured that projects that were carried out in the previous eras, were not based on environmental studies leadig to an environmental impact that was reflected on the population.
She added that the country’s new approach to take care of the environment is based on taking into account environmental dimensions in all projects.
