As for the start-up work on the project, implementation began in 2003, on a total area of 25 acres, with a length of 600 m on the Nile Corniche, where the project was put forward in three phases, explaining that the first phase was completed in 2007, which included concrete structure works The buildings for the main museum building, as well as the usual works and finishes for the attached buildings, which are represented in the restoration school, the machinery building, the cafeteria, the gift shop building, the bridge, as well as the gates.

The second phase of the museum project included the facades of the main museum building, central air conditioning works, elevators works, irrigation network works at the public site, and the tourist police station building, indicating that there are some obstacles that impede the implementation of the second phase, reviewing the most important of these obstacles before the Prime Minister.

The second phase is extended to the works of the third phase of the museum project, which includes the interior finishing works of the main museum building, the completion of civil works at the general site, in addition to all electrical works, and the completion of air conditioning, fire and irrigation works.

The project stopped with the outbreak of the January 25 revolution, due to the lack of the necessary financial funds to complete it, then construction work began again during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and work was resumed in the second phase of the project, which included the facades of the main building, the central air-conditioning network, elevators, and the water network, Work is currently underway to complete the works of the third phase, where visitors will see more than 10,000 pieces that narrate the history of the Atonian period.

For his part, Moamen Othman explained that all the works related to the interior finishes of the museum, those of the exhibition halls, including the placement of curtains and other works, are now being completed.

The committee also developed the final vision for the museum display scenario, and the possibility of enriching it with a unique collection of artifacts. The committee also recommended that the executing company should adhere to the timetable specified for the completion of all construction works for the main building of the museum.
