The Egyptian government inaugurated the Cairo Bike Project in Cairo, including areas of
Downtown, Garden City, and Zamalek.
The first phase of the project has 25 stations and hundreds of bicycles available to rent in
Downtown through downloading the designated app, with the price for 1 hour starting at 1 EGP.
The goal of the project is to encourage people to use sustainable means of transportation in the city, thus reducing traffic and air pollution.
This project is one of many sustainable initiatives the government is implementing ahead of COP27, which will be hosted in Sharm el-Sheikh.
