Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri announced via a Skype interview with Extra News Channel that Egypt has succeeded in revealing the embalming secrets.
"We discovered 100 percent of the mysteries of embalming after the last archaeological discovery," Waziri stressed.
He explained that the remaining secrets of embalming were revealed in the most recent archaeological discovery of a room where four wooden coffins were buried in Saqqara, indicating that the council repaired two obelisks, and the rest of the obelisks are currently being restored.
Waziri pointed out that the cemetery of the Valley of the Kings, which was discovered on February 10, 2006, clarified a lot of aspects of mummification, and it was found that cinnamon, as well as some types of oils and glues were used in the mummification process.
Waziri added that the council celebrates the World Heritage Day every year on April 18.
The World Heritage Day was celebrated in 2017 by the restoration and construction of King Ramses II statue which is located in front of Luxor Temple.
He explained that Ramses II statue suffered from fractures for 1,400 years, and was broken into 57 granite pieces. However, through pure Egyptian hands, the statue was restored and unveiled on April 18, 2017, and it was Egypt's gift to the world on the World Heritage Day.
Waziri further explained that on the World Heritage Day in 2018 they restored another statue, and on the World Heritage Day in 2019 they restored a third statue, and on World Heritage Day this year, Egypt chose to present to the world a different gift which was a new archaeological discovery.
