CAIRO – 30 August 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, has engaged in a series of high-level diplomatic contacts in recent days to revive nuclear negotiations between Iran and European E3 group—Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.
The discussions included counterparts from the European E3 group, as well as senior officials from Iran, the United States, and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), according to a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.
The goal of these talks is to help pave the way for the resumption of stalled negotiations between Iran and the United States over the Iranian nuclear file. Egypt is working to bridge gaps between the involved parties, with the objective of reaching a sustainable agreement that addresses the interests of all stakeholders and fosters an environment of de-escalation, mutual trust, and regional stability.
These efforts come amid heightened tensions, especially following the recent activation of the UN sanctions snapback mechanism through the Security Council. Egypt is seeking to facilitate consensus-driven diplomacy and avert further escalation by encouraging dialogue and compromise among all parties involved.
The ongoing consultations underscore Egypt’s active role as a regional mediator, leveraging its diplomatic channels to promote peaceful solutions to complex international issues.
