Egypt’s Intelligence Chief Meets Sudan’s Al-Burhan in Port Sudan

CAIRO – 25 January 2026: Sudan’s top military and transitional leader, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Saturday in Port Sudan with Major General Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, the chief of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (GIS), According to Ahram Online.

Sudan’s Director of General Intelligence, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, attended the meeting according to the Sudanese News Agency “SUNA”

During the meeting, Rashad conveyed the greetings of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his wishes for lasting peace, security, and stability for the Sudanese people.

The talks reviewed the strong relations between the two countries and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in counterterrorism efforts and in safeguarding the security of the Red Sea and the wider region.

The meeting also addressed humanitarian arrangements in Sudan, focusing on facilitating relief operations and ensuring the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
