On April 26, 2025, a devastating vehicle-ramming attack occurred during the Lapu Lapu Day festival in Vancouver as a car drove at high speed through a section of Fraser Street, which had been closed for the festival, killing 11 people and injuring over 20 others.
The suspect is a 30-year-old Vancouver resident named Kai-Ji Adam Lo, he was apprehended at the scene by bystanders and has been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder, with additional charges anticipated. Authorities have ruled out terrorism as a motive, citing Lo's significant history of mental health issues.
