CAIRO – 12 June 2022: Egypt's President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi held a meeting Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al Sayed al-Qusair, and Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie to follow up on a number of projects relevant to food security.

Rabie presented the updates of the construction of the infrastructure necessary to establish fisheries. The under-progress projects are fish farms, water plants, feed factories, and packaging facilities.

On that front, the president instructed the allocation of the resources needed to bolster local fish production.

As for animal production, the minister of agriculture briefed the chief of state on the steps made to enhance local breeds, IVF procedures, and better link farms with milk collection centers.

In that framework, the president stressed promoting the program concerned with introducing most productive cattle breeds.

The minister also presented the progress rate of developing Al Zahraa Horse Farm, which is one of the oldest and most distinguished in breeding Arabian Horses.

President Sisi held in May a meeting with Minister Qusair directed during the meeting to integrate efforts and plans of all business sectors in the state to increase agricultural production and achieve the highest productive and economic efficiency of various resources in the country.

The move is meant to promote food security especially when it comes to strategic crops and boost the competitive edge of Egyptian agricultural products locally and internationally.

This is also intended to link agricultural production with related industries and provide more direct and indirect job opportunities.
