CAIRO – 23 August 2021: In his meeting with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic asserted that his country would continue cooperating with Egypt to deal with challenges facing Mediterranean countries given that Middle Eastern and North African developments and Europe's security are intertwined.
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received the Serbian minister of Foreign Affairs Sunday in Al Itihadiyah Palace as they discussed cooperation.
Selakovic commended Egypt for expanding dialogue among European, African, and Arab states, and for its endeavors to combat extremism, and promote the principles of tolerance, freedom of choice, and acceptance of the Other.
The president showcased the long history between the two countries, which both – along with India - founded the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961. He added that Egypt looks forward to enhancing cooperation on all levels, particularly trade exchange and investment. President Sisi noted that Egypt offers competitive opportunities in the industrial sector among others, and that investors would be benefiting from the trade agreements it has with Arab and African countries.
On his side, the Serbian minister expressed keenness on continuous consultations in different fields hailing the developmental experience Egypt is undertaking. He also valued Egyptian efforts in reinforcing regional security and stability.
It is noted that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will participate in the Non-Aligned Movement Summit to be held in Belgrade on October 11-12.
